Strategi Dosen dalam Membentuk Karakter Disiplin Mahasiswa: Studi di Program Studi Kesejahteraan Sosial UIN Ar-Raniry Banda Aceh

Abstract
Developing a disciplined character among university students is a major challenge for higher education in Indonesia, especially in religious-based institutions expected to produce graduates with strong integrity and values. This study aims to analyze the strategies employed by lecturers to foster student discipline in the Social Welfare Study Program at the Faculty of Da’wah and Communication, UIN Ar-Raniry Banda Aceh. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through observation and in-depth interviews with purposively selected lecturers and students. Data analysis followed an interactive process involving data reduction, display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that lecturers’ strategies for nurturing discipline involve careful planning centered on role-modeling, the creation of inclusive learning environments, and the consistent enforcement of academic regulations. Implementation includes demonstrating exemplary behavior, actively engaging students in academic activities, and utilizing technology to support communication and supervision. Key obstacles identified include weak internalization of discipline among students, low academic motivation, environmental influences, and limited support from both institutions and families. These results highlight the importance of synergy among lecturers, students, social environments, and institutional policies in building effective and sustainable student discipline.
Abstrak
Penanaman karakter disiplin pada mahasiswa merupakan tantangan utama yang dihadapi pendidikan tinggi di Indonesia, terutama pada lingkungan perguruan tinggi keagamaan yang dituntut melahirkan lulusan berintegritas dan berkarakter kuat. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis strategi dosen dalam membentuk karakter disiplin mahasiswa di Program Studi Kesejahteraan Sosial Fakultas Dakwah dan Komunikasi UIN Ar-Raniry Banda Aceh. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif deskriptif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi dan wawancara mendalam terhadap dosen serta mahasiswa yang dipilih secara purposive. Analisis data dilakukan secara interaktif melalui tahapan reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa strategi dosen dalam membangun karakter disiplin mahasiswa meliputi perencanaan yang matang berbasis keteladanan, penciptaan lingkungan pembelajaran yang inklusif, dan penegakan aturan secara konsisten. Implementasi strategi dilakukan melalui keteladanan perilaku, pelibatan aktif mahasiswa dalam kegiatan akademik, serta pemanfaatan teknologi untuk mendukung komunikasi dan pengawasan. Kendala utama yang dihadapi meliputi lemahnya internalisasi nilai disiplin pada mahasiswa, rendahnya motivasi belajar, pengaruh lingkungan sosial, serta keterbatasan dukungan institusi dan keluarga. Temuan ini menegaskan pentingnya sinergi antara dosen, mahasiswa, lingkungan sosial, dan kebijakan institusi dalam membangun karakter disiplin yang efektif dan berkelanjutan.
