A. Publication Model

Starting in 2026, JIGM publishes articles using a Continuous Publication (Article-Based Publishing) model. The journal remains biannual with two issue periods each year: Issue 1 (January–June) and Issue 2 (July–December). Articles are published individually as soon as they are fully ready for publication.

B. Editorial Integrity and Workflow

Continuous publication does not change the editorial standards. Every manuscript must complete the full editorial and production workflow before publication.

  1. Initial Screening: scope fit, basic quality, ethical compliance, and similarity check (as applicable).
  2. Peer Review: conducted according to the journal’s peer-review policy.
  3. Revisions: authors address reviewer/editor comments (if required).
  4. Editorial Decision: accept / revise / reject based on editorial evaluation.
  5. Production: copyediting, proofreading, layout/typesetting, and metadata finalization.
  6. Author Proof Approval: authors approve final proofs before release.
  7. Publication: final Version of Record is published online with DOI and official publication date.
Note: No manuscript receives preferential or shortened processing. Publication occurs only after all required steps are completed.

C. Version of Record (VoR)

Each article published online is the journal’s final Version of Record. Upon publication, the article is assigned a DOI, an official online publication date, and complete bibliographic metadata. The VoR is permanent and citable.

D. Issue Structure and Closure

  • The issue is open during the six-month publication period.
  • Articles are added progressively as they are published.
  • At the end of the period, the issue is formally closed and all articles published within that period are compiled under the corresponding Volume/Issue/Year.

E. Article Dates and Transparency

For transparency, each article displays key dates on the article landing page.

  • Submitted: date the manuscript was received by the journal.
  • Accepted: date the manuscript was formally accepted for publication.
  • Published: the official online publication date of the Version of Record.

F. Post-Publication Changes and Corrections

To protect the integrity of the scholarly record, published articles are not altered silently. Any necessary changes are handled through formal notices, linked to the original article.

  • Erratum / Corrigendum (correction notices)
  • Retraction (withdrawal of the article with clear reasons)
  • Expression of Concern (when investigation is ongoing)
Record Integrity: All notices will be clearly labeled, dated, and permanently accessible on the journal website.

G. Archiving and Indexing Compatibility

Continuous publication maintains the journal’s issue frequency and supports stable indexing, metadata consistency, and archiving. Volume/issue assignments remain consistent and are finalized when the issue closes at the end of each six-month period.

H. Rationale

  • Faster dissemination of peer-reviewed research
  • Reduced waiting time after acceptance
  • More efficient publication workflow
  • Maintained editorial rigor and ethical standards
