This policy explains ownership, first-publication rights, the Creative Commons licence, author reuse, and third-party material for Jurnal Ilmiah Guru Madrasah (JIGM).

1. Copyright ownership

Authors retain copyright in their work. By accepting publication, authors grant JIGM the non-exclusive right of first publication and the rights necessary to edit, produce, publish, preserve, register metadata and DOI information, distribute, and promote the article.

2. Publication licence

Unless a clearly identified exception applies, JIGM articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International licence (CC BY-SA 4.0).

• users may copy, redistribute, remix, transform, and build upon the work;
• appropriate credit, a licence link, and an indication of changes are required;
• adapted material must be distributed under the same or a compatible licence;
• no additional legal or technological restriction may prevent uses permitted by the licence.

3. Author reuse and self-archiving

• authors may post submitted, accepted, and published versions in personal, institutional, or subject repositories;
• the published citation, DOI, and licence should be added when available;
• authors may reuse the work in a thesis, book, teaching resource, policy document, or other publication with acknowledgement of first publication in JIGM;
• separate non-exclusive distribution arrangements are permitted when the JIGM publication is acknowledged.

4. Third-party material

The article's Creative Commons licence does not automatically cover third-party material that is credited separately or excluded in a caption. Authors must identify the rights holder, obtain permission where required, comply with licence terms, and retain evidence of permission.

Material containing identifiable persons also requires appropriate publication consent, even when copyright permission has been obtained.

5. Author warranties

• the submission is original and the authors are authorised to grant publication rights;
• the work does not knowingly infringe copyright, privacy, confidentiality, moral rights, contractual duties, or other third-party rights;
• all licences, permissions, attributions, and disclosures are accurate;
• authors will cooperate in resolving credible rights concerns.

6. Rights complaints and takedown

Credible copyright or legal complaints are assessed promptly. The journal may temporarily restrict access when necessary to prevent serious harm or comply with law, while preserving bibliographic metadata where possible. Correction, replacement, removal, or retraction depends on the legal and scholarly circumstances.
